2013 OCSEF Art Competition

General Rules and Guidelines

 

General Rules and Guidelines

 

  1. Open to middle school and high school students in Orange County, California. 
  1. Students are invited to submit original artwork inspired by the year’s theme.

 

Entries will be judged on their

(1) Design originality

(2) Technical skill

(3) Ability of work to inspire science fair participation and exploration in K-12 students.

 

Each student is allowed one submission. The art should be designed on flexible paper (not rigid board). Maximum size is 2 x 3 feet.

  

  1. Awards: First prize is $100 with 3 honorable mention prizes of $50 each.

 

  1. Artwork should be hand-drawn or painted. No computer facilitated design or photographs will be accepted.

 

  1. Initial judging will be done via photographs of art competition entries. High quality photographs (submitted in JPG file format) of art competition entries should be sent as email attachments to OCSEF at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Students should include their full name, age, mailing address, email/telephone contact number, grade and school.

 

  1. Competition semi-finalists will be contacted via email.  OCSEF reserves the right to use and display art competition entries for publicity purposes.

In December 2013, students were invited to submit original artwork to the OCSEF inspired by year’s theme: “The Art of Science”.  Entries were judged on their design originality, technical skill and ability of the work to inspire science fair participation and exploration in K-12 students.  Entries were judged by a panel of professional artists and OCSEF Board Members.  The OCSEF is proud to announce the following winners:

In September 2012, students were invited to submit original artwork to the OCSEF inspired by year’s theme: “Making Science Happen”.  Entries were judged on their design originality, technical skill and ability of the work to inspire science fair participation and exploration in K-12 students.  Entries were judged by a panel of professional artists and OCSEF Board Members.  The OCSEF is proud to announce the following 8 winners:
