Jennifer McCleary, 17, a senior at Beckman High School and Yelena Mandelshtam, 17, a senior at University High School, are finalists in the 2015 Intel Science Talent Search, the nation's most prestigious pre-college science competition. Only 40 finalists were chosen from the select group of 300 semifinalists, which were previously selected from thousands of entries. These girls will fly to Washington, D.C. in early March, where their research will be judged. They will visit the White House and may win up to $150,000. Winners of this contest have gone on to win Nobel and other prestigious prizes in their fields.
